Antares Unveils MetaMorph AI Vocal Modelling Plugin

Antares Audio Technologies, the company behind the iconic AutoTune, has introduced MetaMorph, an AI-powered vocal modelling plugin that promises to revolutionize vocal production. This tool, equipped with 12 ethically-trained voice models, allows users to transform the timbre of vocal recordings directly within their digital audio workstation (DAW), eliminating the need for cloud-based processing.

MetaMorph’s primary function is to graft the timbre of one vocalist onto another, offering a range of creative possibilities. For instance, singers who are less confident in their own voice can use this tool to perform in the voice of another artist. Additionally, it can be used to create backing vocals or duets with contrasting vocal characters. The plugin’s versatility extends beyond vocals, as users can experiment with running non-vocal sources through it.

The voice models included in MetaMorph span a variety of registers and styles, from soulful female sopranos to classical male baritones. Antares has also partnered with AI voice platform Voice-Swap to offer an additional six models. All models are ethically trained and based on the voices of real artists who have been compensated for their involvement. However, users cannot currently create their own voice models, a feature offered by competing plugins such as IK Multimedia’s ReSing and Dreamtonics’ Vocoflex.

Antares has positioned MetaMorph as part of a broader commitment to the responsible use of AI in music technology. The company has signed an industry-wide agreement on Principles for Music Creation with AI and emphasized the importance of respecting the perspectives of music artists, songwriters, and other creators as AI-powered tools continue to evolve.

“Metamorph isn’t about replacing the human voice – it’s about expanding what’s possible when human creativity meets responsible AI,” said AutoTune CEO Jeff Wright. “We’ve built this technology with artists at the center, ensuring every voice model is ethically sourced and every transformation preserves the soul that only human creators can bring to music.”

The release of MetaMorph comes on the heels of Antares’ recent launch of AutoTune 2026, a major update to its flagship vocal tuning tool. MetaMorph is priced at $200, and Antares is celebrating its launch with a Black Friday “Early Bird” Sale, offering up to 60% off products and subscriptions, including 50% off MetaMorph and AutoTune 2026.

This development could significantly shape the future of vocal production in the music industry. By providing a tool that ethically leverages AI to transform vocals, Antares is not only expanding creative possibilities but also setting a precedent for responsible AI use. As more artists and producers adopt tools like MetaMorph, we may see a shift towards more experimental and collaborative vocal productions, ultimately enriching the musical landscape.

Moreover, Antares’ commitment to ethical AI use could influence other companies in the music technology sector to adopt similar practices. This could lead to a broader industry-wide agreement on the principles of AI use in music creation, ensuring that artists are fairly compensated and their perspectives are respected. As AI continues to advance, the integration of such tools in music production will likely become more prevalent, making it crucial for companies to prioritize ethical considerations.

In conclusion, the release of MetaMorph marks a significant step forward in the integration of AI in music production. Its potential to transform vocal recordings ethically and responsibly sets a new standard for the industry, paving the way for more innovative and collaborative musical creations. As the technology continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how artists and producers leverage these tools to push the boundaries of vocal production.
